Developer Update (Alpha): Chris M - Week 4

This week saw me design several new set pieces for the environment. I worked alongside Connor who created a few concept pieces for the 3d models so I could get the look and feel right. These pieces were a forcefield gate to bar player from progression, a teleporter to well teleport, and a crane arm for the early stage to assist with teaching mechanics. Once I'd created the assets I went through and UV'd them for texturing later. I also pieced together the arena for the first boss which was quite the process in itself.

 

 There was a lot of minute tweaking to make things like the I-beams fit together while fitting the structure of the skyscraper itself. Once I had all of that pieced together, I moved on to placing in some of the wrecked platforms which was quite fun. I played around with different angles for the platforms and placed the supports as if they had come from out the wall slightly with rebars being exposed all over the gaff.

Don't worry, I didn't place each of the pebbles individually, that'd just be silly, I made a set of around thirty in Maya so they could be placed more quickly.
